Yan Xi (嫣汐 | Yān xī) is the mascot of the MUTA software, company, and was the first vocal released for the synthesizer. Currently, she is the only vocal capable of both speech and singing.
Her voice was provided by 樱桦Cheryl.
History[]
Yan Xi has existed as early as late 2014.[1] While it is not known when she officially started development, her first viral video was a self cover of 豆腐P's song, 'Exclusive Right', in collaboration with 三面玲珑 for the MMD video.[2] From this point forward, Yan Xi and MUTA's popularity skyrocketed in China, creating an influx of music made with the alpha version of the software.
Towards the end of 2015, Yan Xi and MUTA's first stable release (ver 1.001) was made available to the public.[3]
On August 14, 2016, it was announced that an updated Yan Xi would be releasing for the 2.0 version of the MUTA software.[4]
Yan Xi was one of three vocals available for the MUTA Mobile App where individuals could choose preset-songs uploaded to the cloud and render the songs with the vocal of their choosing. Additionally, it was possible to chat with Yan Xi using a mobile AI.[5]
Yan Xi was planned for a MUTA 3.0 release, but this has since been cancelled for development on the AISingers program. Additionally, the download for Yan Xi, and MUTA, has ceased availability circa 2021.
She was later released an a vocalist for AISingers.
Concept[]
Yan Xi was designed and illustrated, in her MUTA 2.0 concept, to resemble a phoenix. This is likely to symbolize the evolution that the character and voice library experienced over the development period between the initial MUTA release and the 2.0 release of the engine. She is described as lively and optimistic girl that never gives up.
Etymology[]
"嫣汐" (Yān xī) is derived from the characters "嫣", meaning "captivating" and/or "beautiful", and "汐" which is a compound of "氵", "water", and "夕", which translates to "evening". The compound is translated to "evening tides" and her full name is translated as follows: "Beautiful evening tides". She is also sometimes referred to as "the Queen of Electric Sound" by native-fans.
Appearance[]
Yan Xi's design sports an orange, waist level, body suit; complimenting a transparent skirt with an audio waveform display trim. Sprouting from either hip are her wings, see phoenix concept, and a ribbon-trail. Yan Xi is wearing platform heels that match her long gloves and neck décor. Behind her ear is a single feather, a trait that has been present since her debut design.
